Great news on HB 629 and HB 636!!!!
HB 629 sponsored by Kathleen Williams for the CSKT Compact was tabled this morning in the House Judiciary committee. The vote was 8 for, 12 against
HB 636 sponsored by Dan Salomon to appropriate $12 million to begin implementation of the compact, and to RATIFY THE EXISTING COMPACT IN 2015 was also tabled in the House Appropriations committee. The vote on this bill was closer 10 for it, 11 against it.
NOW IS THE TIME TO TAKE ACTION ON BOTH THESE BILLS – AND HERE ARE THREE EASY WAYS TO LET LEGISLATORS KNOW:
OPTION 1: CALL 406-444-4800 TO URGE ALL HOUSE REPRESENTATIVES TO HOLD THE LINE AND RESIST A BLAST MOTION TO THE FLOOR ON HB 629 AND HB 636. ALSO URGE THEM TO VOTE AGAINST HB 629 AND HB 636 IF THEY DO GET BLASTED TO THE FLOOR.
OPTION 2: SEND AN EMAIL TO firstname.lastname@example.org THEY WILL FORWARD YOUR MESSAGE TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. IN THE SUBJECT LINE, ENTER: RESIST BLAST MOTION FOR HOUSE BILL 629 AND HB 636. HERE’S A SAMPLE MESSAGE YOU CAN USE, OR WRITE YOUR OWN. BE SURE TO PROVIDE YOUR FULL NAME AND TOWN IN THE EMAIL MESSAGE.
I’m emailing to urge you to resist a blast motion to the floor on the following bills:
HB 629 sponsored by Kathleen Williams – for the CSKT Compact
HB 636 sponsored by Dan Salomon – Appropriation of $12 million to pre-implement the CSKT compact and to provide a means to ratify the existing CSKT compact
Extensive research has been conducted on the compact and a great amount of information has been provided concerning why this compact will be bad for Montana, and bad for agriculture and bad for our economy. The constitutional, legal and economic impacts are far too significant, and will make for uncertainty in the future.
I also urge you to vote against these bills should a blast motion to the floor succeed, and to support Verdell Jackson’s bill SB 265 to extend the compact commission for 2 years to develop a viable compact.
OPTION 3: EMAIL THE REPUBLICAN REPRESENTATIVES ONLY. HERE ARE THEIR EMAIL ADDRESSES. COPY AND PASTE ALL OF THEM INTO THE ADDRESS FIELD OF YOUR EMAIL:
