NOTE: We don't know how the other tribal water compacts were handled by the water court, but see the CSKT compact is now showcased on the court's PUBLIC NOTIFICATIONS page with its hundreds of pages of CSKT Compact related documents in the links copied below. All this, while basins most impacted, 76L and 76LJ are under a "stay" with no visibility to the public. How is it possible to file an objection within any of the numerous basins impacted by this federal overreach when it is virtually impossible to see how your water rights stack up to those awarded to the CSKT in the Daine's water compact travesty? Is it the plan of the water court to decree all of the CSKT claims and then let the people of western Montana "deal with it" after it's too late? Does the Montana Water Court even have jurisdiction over these ridiculously labeled "tribal reserved water rights"? Perhaps you will be able to keep your water right when they finally get around to adjudicating your basin, but will it be worthless in the face of the massive "time immemorial" claims awarded to the United States / CSKT in this "negotiated compact settlement"?

Thanks for the info. Too many people & local officials, are ignoring it. Finally, after a little convincing, Granite County put this as an item on their Tues Jun 21 Agenda. ” 1:30 p.m. Butte Silver Bow County’s Water Rights and the CSKT/Montana/U.S. Compact; Discussion.” A big 15 min discussion!
Wow, that long?
Thanks for the information. The Water Court is analyzing objections in the context of whether the compact was produced by fraud, overreach, or collusion on the part of the parties. I believe with the information in this blog and getting the word out, very successful objections can be filed in the court.
